FAQ
I can’t find it
MyMoodyMac lives in the menu bar, not the Dock. Look for the face at the top right of your screen and click it.
Open it at login
Click the face, then the gear at the bottom right of the panel to open Settings. Under General, turn on Launch at login.
I want numbers, not a face
In Settings, under Personality, turn off Show mood in menu bar. The bar shows CPU and memory percentages instead.
Power, fans or temperatures are missing
Power readings need Apple silicon, and so do some temperature sensors. A Mac without fans shows none, and a desktop Mac has no battery to show.
Does Free up really free anything
It mostly clears disk cache, which macOS would reclaim on its own anyway. It is more satisfying than useful.
Savage Mode
Turn it on or off in Settings, under Personality. It starts off. With it off, tapping a module still gets a mild comment.
Update it
It checks once a day. To check now, open Settings › About and choose Check for Updates…. To stop the daily check, untick Check for updates automatically.
Change the language
Settings › Language. Pick one of six, or Auto (System).
Remove it
Quit it from the panel, then drag MyMoodyMac from Applications to the Trash. Its settings are in ~/Library/Preferences/com.somewritingapp.mymoodymac.plist; delete that too if you want them gone.
Does it run on my Mac
macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Apple silicon gets everything; Intel Macs run it without power readings and some sensors.
Something is broken
Send the email above with your macOS version, your Mac’s chip, the app version from Settings › About, and what you did just before it happened. That last one matters most.
